A funky new addition to the trendy downtown area of Dohby Gaut has taken shape with a new offering from SCDA. ( http://www.scdaarchitects.com/)This is situated alongside the already bustling stretch of Handy Road from Plaza Singapura to The Cathay cinema.
I managed to get a couple of glimpes of the building just before it completes construction. The finishing of the building is sleek, with its glazing treatment. The glazing is a laminated glass spotting a dramatic foliage-like pattern almost in reflection to the trendy stretch of Hand Road.
Consisting of a single block of apartments in a tight site, the building is about 12 stories, and is located right in front to the pedestrain walkway. Clearly targeted for the arty crowd, the building has a fun scultpure as a welcome gesture.
A swimming pool is included in the tight site that sits at the front of the facade but behind the glass facade. One can glimpse a swimming pool popping out on the side.
The resulting product is a delightful addition to Handy Road, resonant tot the shopping and entertainment vibe of the area.
